Eurokat
Eurokat The packing materials of the Eurokat family consist of sulfonated cross-linked polystyrene-divinylbenzene copolymers. The greater the crosslinking, the smaller the pores of the carrier. The big advantage of this stationary phase type is the pH stability over the complete range of 1 - 14! There are very specific areas of application for Eurokat. Eurokat is available in 3 different ionic forms. The H-form, Eurokat H, is useful for the determination of organic acids (ion exclusion chromatography) and mixtures of these with sugars and alcohols, e.g. occur in fermentation processes. Here, dilute mineral acids (e.g., 0.01N sulfuric acid) are used as the mobile phase. The calcium (Eurokat Ca) and lead (Eurokat Pb) are ideal for the separation of sugars and sugar alcohols. Sugar alcohols have a significantly reduced retention on the Ca carrier. The choice in the mobile phase falls here on distilled water. It is therefore a very environmentally friendly method of analysis! All Eurokat phases are characterized by a long life and robustness.
